Some troubleshooting techniques would be:

Test that the coax cable is working
Analog cameras are powered with a separate power supply so check that the existing power supply is still working
Some analog cameras support multiple protocols (TVI, CVBS, CVI, AHD), check the DVRs spec sheet and see what the DVR supports
