What does "IP Camera resolution exceeded limit" mean?

Question:

I just bought a new camera and it connected, but when I try to view it I get "IP Camera resolution exceeded limit" why?

Answer:

The camera has exceeded the resolution limits of the recorder. Every recorder will have a maximum allowed resolution as well as a limit to how many cameras can be at said resolution. To lower the resolution of your camera, navigate to System Configuration -> Record -> Record/Video Quality/Parameters and select a lower resolution in the dropdown menu.
